The Game is Afoot. Glad to say a new painting is underway. Today was the third “Session,” with gestural Paynes Grey strokes added yesterday. Probably more subtraction and defining forms ahead. I was quite under the weather last week, so painting this weekend is an especial joy.

Thank youWil, Joann, and Martha and all the good folks at MFA.
Also, thanks to Jo and Sally at Jo Fleming Contemporary for a joyful artist reception on Saturday. It was well attended and Jo’s guests were very friendly and engaging. The exhibit is up through September 25th. Check for gallery hours and other featured artists here: https://www.joflemingcontemporaryart.com/
A brief lull in activity . . . Artist Elizabeth Kendall second from left. Jo Fleming third from left. Artist Janet Jeffers far right. My paintings in the background.
I’ve spent the las few weekends preoccupied with readying paintings for the “Watermarks” show at Jo Fleming Gallery and reviewing older work for the Maryland Federation of Art “Wil Talk” a couple of weeks ago. Back to some new work, mindful of previous work. So this work in progress is more “graphic,” harder edged, and saturated in bright colors than work since last fall. 40 X 30″ acrylic, and bringing in some paper/collage sparingly. Fun to work in this manner.
Pleased to announce that six of my paintings are included in “Watermarks” at Jo Fleming Contemporary Gallery, Annapolis, Maryland. Here is a link: https://www.joflemingcontemporaryart.com/
Here is a shot from an earlier installation. More to come… Thanks Jo!
I am so pleased that Robert asked for me to illustrate a second book cover for him. I love the directness of painting, but there is something about print that has been a thrill since seeing my drawings in the Lakewood High School student paper. Thank you Robert.
When Nolan showed work at the Las Cruces Museum of Art, New Mexico, I had to introduce myself and tell her how much I like her work. I have since had the opprotunity to show with her several times. So glad to saythat we stay in touch. Her art is as compelling as ever. Enjoy!
High Winds on Treasure Island, Florida. Soonest I could visit the home-waters and Fam after second vaccination. Wanted to share this image of a place I love to be, in a darker aspect. Back to paintings next post.
And here is a small panel of mine hanging in Sister Lise’s house:

“First” State. I don’t know. I like the atmospheric openess in this first state. No “Crtl Alt Z” In life or in painting . . . Not unless I go digital. I guess it is still here in a sense though. We’re looking at it.
